Big Sister Hannah credits her two older brothers for helping to shape who she is. As the youngest of three siblings, she wanted to become a mentor to pass along the guidance they gave her.
She was matched with Diana, one of eleven children whose mother learned about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami through a friend who also had children in the program. Before getting a Big Sister, Diana didn’t get out much without a car—but now she gets to experience summer camp, the beach, and so much more.
The two recently celebrated their one year match anniversary, and Hannah has seen a huge shift in Diana’s confidence—in everything from speaking to librarians to directly asking for what she needs.
Diana’s mother noted that Hannah and Diana treat each other like family. In one recent conversation, Diana revealed that she never wanted to stop being Hannah’s Little. Her Big Sister’s heart melted.
