Our Partners Make the Difference

We know that alone we can’t fulfill our mission, so we have partnered with hundreds of corporations, foundations, schools, law enforcement and first responder agencies, as well as family-serving non-profit organizations throughout Miami-Dade County. These partnerships are fundamental to supporting Littles as they develop their potential and begin their path toward personal fulfillment. Recognizing that little moments can have a big impact on a child, partners contribute to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities.

WAYS TO PARTNER

As an individual

Whether through our community-based mentoring program or through Bigs in Schools, individuals are key to forwarding BBBSM’s vision of all children fulfilling their potential. Individuals are the core of the one-to-one mentoring programs that we offer.

Companies and organizations partner with BBBSM by encouraging employees to become Big Brothers and Big Sisters, providing positive adult mentors to young people in our community who need guidance and support.

As a Police Department

Bigs in Blue is a model program that partners local police officers as Bigs. This program can traverse any of the other mentoring program models – community-based mentoring, Bigs in Schools, School to Work, or Group Engagement & Mentoring. Bigs in Blue helps foster and strengthen trust between local law enforcement and minority communities.

As a Workplace

More than 60 organizations partner with BBBSM in School to Work. Through this program, high school students are transported once a month to a corporate partner’s office to meet with his or her mentor. Mentoring sessions include job shadowing, career development curricula, and one-to-one conversations.

Through Group Engagement
& Mentoring

BBBSM offers partnership opportunities at the Carnival Center through the Group Engagement & Mentoring (GEM) programs. Partners work with Littles to achieve mentoring objectives with a defined cohort over a set period of time. Local organizations help us meet the needs of our community and the families we serve by providing curricula and activities for Littles in the GEM program, many of whom are waiting to be matched with a Big.

As a Donor

Financial partners are critical to ensuring BBBSM has the resources it needs for Littles to receive safe and effective mentoring. General operating funds cover the cost of screening Littles to evaluate which BBBSM programs are the best fit for the family’s needs, screening and evaluating Bigs to secure safe and logical matches, and ongoing support for the mentoring relationships.

Partnerships may also be customized to meet the organization’s mission and our community’s needs. For more information on how to become a partner, contact our programs team at aariola@bbbsmiami.org
